THERMAL EXPANSION CALCULATOR

Thermal Expansion
Calculator

This tool allows you to estimate the dimensional increase of a metal component when exposed to temperature variation.
By entering the initial length and operating temperature, you can quickly calculate the linear expansion.

✅ The calculation is automatically based on the selected steel grade from the dropdown menu.

Ideal for evaluating the behavior of BA steels during heating.

During the production stages of a forged steel block, surface imperfections caused by the forging process can affect the integrity of the steel.
Other factors, such as the deformations of forged blocks due to the complex production process and surface conditions from oxy-cutting, must also be considered.

It is therefore essential to perform subsequent surface material removal, using chip removal, to employ the block in the construction of mechanical components free from surface defects that could compromise its performance during use or in subsequent steel transformation phases.

To ensure that the block used is free from these physiological defects, it is crucial to know the minimum stock removal required on the block’s dimensions.

The proposed calculator serves precisely this purpose. By filling in the thickness, width, and length fields for one of the states (raw, milled, or finished), it will provide the key value “Minimum stock removal on thickness (per side)” and the associated weight for the raw and milled conditions.
